Week-6 of the 2018 Ole Miss football season featured the Rebels high-powered offense facing off against the UL-Monroe Warhawks.

Saturday afternoon Ole Miss football (4-2, 0-2) was celebrating a huge 70-21 win over the Warhawks of ULM (2-4, 0-2). The Rebels win was a record-setter with the Rebels putting up 826 yards of total offense on the day with 517 yards coming thru the air and 309 yards coming on the ground. While the Rebels offense was clicking on all cylinders the Rebels defense played very well.

Ole Miss entered the non-conference match-up coming off a 45-16 loss to the No.5 LSU Tigers. The win was the Rebels 4th of the season with the 2 losses coming in SEC play. The performance Saturday was much improved and more disciplined than what we witnessed in Baton Rouge with the Rebels only having 7 penalties for 73 yards.

Head coach Matt Luke was indeed pleased with the Rebels and it showed after the game with Luke commenting on the Rebels. “I’m very, very proud of Jordan,” Ole Miss coach Matt Luke said. “Am I excited about the way we started offensively? Absolutely I am. I could sense our team’s focus and confidence was there.”

Coach Matt Luke and Ole Miss football will be back in action this coming Saturday as they travel to Little Rock to face the Arkansas Razorbacks. We can hope to see more fireworks from Jordan Ta’amu and the Rebels when they face the Hogs. However for now we look at the Homecoming win over ULM by the numbers.

By The Numbers

More from Ole Miss Football

Ta’amu also had 6 carries for 63 yards and 2 TDs on the ground. Freshman Rebels quarterback Matt Corral saw his first substantial playing time and went a perfect 10 of 10 for 143 yards and 2 TDs. Corral also had 6 carries for 78 yards rushing and 1 TD on the ground.

The NWO was especially incredible with 3 WRs having 100+ yard games. Senior DaMarkus Lodge had 9 receptions for 179 yards and 1 TD. Junior All-American AJ Brown also had 9 receptions for 133 yards and 1 TD. Junior DK Metcalf had 4 receptions for 115 yards and 1 TD while freshman Elijah Moore also had 4 receptions for 59 yards and 1 TD. Defensive Numbers

Against the Warhawks the Rebels allowed 427 yards giving up 297 yards thru the air and just 130 yards on the ground. Freshman Keidron Smith led the Rebels with 7 tackles. Sophomore Tariqious Tisdale had 6 tackles with 1.5 TFLs. Junior Armani Linton also had 6 tackles with 1.5 TFL and 1 sack. Junior Myles Hartsfield also had 6 tackles and 1 forced fumble. This was the best the Rebels defense has played so far this season and could be the turning point for coach Wesley McGriff and this defense.
