The regular signing period is just a few weeks away for Ole Miss football so OHT is taking a quick look at the latest recruiting news for the Rebels.

Coach Matt Luke and his new coordinators have been busy getting ready for the regular signing period for the 2019 Ole Miss football recruiting class. As with any class this one has had some highs and lows however the Rebels 2019 class is currently sitting at No.25 in the nation and No.11 in the SEC.

There has also been a fair amount of drama with the 2019 class which has resulted in a long-time commit decommitting. Jerrion Ealy who was considered a hard commit for Luke and the Rebels decommitted shortly after his record-setting performance in the Under Armor All-American game last week. While it was expected Ealy would forego college football to play major league baseball it is known Ealy is also considering Clemson as a potential landing spot.

While losing some commits does hurt this may not be as bad for Luke and the Rebels as it seems. The vacancy can be filled with a player who is solid on Ole Miss and the new and much improved staff. Ealy would be a huge get for the Rebels and he would thrive in the Ole Miss backfield. We wait to see where he winds up but Ole Miss is not completely out of the picture.

The early signing period was successful for coach Matt Luke considering what he was up against. The Rebels inked 25 new players so that doesn’t leave much room for more signees. However, there are three players who are still committed with February 6th just weeks away. All three are expected to sign LOIs with the Rebels then.

Jonathan Mingo of Brandon, Mississippi is rated as a 4* WR. At 6’2 and 200 lbs Mingo fits the mold of a SEC and NWO receiver. Mingo is very talented and would likely see immediate playing time in Rich Rodriguez‘s offense. Mingo was selected as part of the Under Armor All-American team. In high school Mingo had 153 receptions for 2,492 yards and 23 TDs.

Coach Mike MacIntyre seems to be sitting in good shape with the commitment of Brandon Mack of Montgomery, Alabama. Mack is rated as a 3* WDE and at 6’4 and 240 lbs Mack is considered the No.24 player in the State of Alabama. Last but certainly not least is Caleb Etienne of New Orleans, Louisiana. At 6’6 and 306 lbs Etienne is rated a 3* offensive tackle and considered to be the No.32 player from the State of Louisiana.

So while we wait for February 6th we keep our fingers crossed for some possible flips or surprises. We can never make any guarantees when it comes to National Signing Day but you can always count on the drama which surrounds it. 2019 NSD will be no different. Hotty Toddy!
