After a huge 2019 Grove Bowl weekend for Ole Miss football, Ole Miss baseball and Ole Miss softball its time for some shout outs.

The 2019 Grove Bowl has now come and gone and we’ve seen the future of Ole Miss football. For most Ole Miss fans the spring game was a success on the field and both new schemes on both sides of the ball appear to be coming together as planned. Coach Matt Luke and his new and improved staff have done a lot in a very short time.

Over the weekend we also watched as now No.10 Ole Miss baseball (24-10, 8-4) picked up the series sweep over then No.16 Florida in an offensive baseball clinic. We also watched as now No.9 Ole Miss softball (28-10, 7-4) picked up two wins on Saturday in Lexington to take the series against then No.22 Kentucky. It was a great weekend for Ole Miss Athletics and OHT has some shout outs.

So after a huge Grove Bowl weekend we have to start with what most Ole Miss fans wanted to see most. For Ole Miss football the spring scrimmage allowed us to see some things we have been waiting for. OHT wants to shout out to coach Matt Luke, Rich Rod, Mike Mac and the rest of the Ole Miss football staff. The Grove Bowl was exciting and physical and the future looks bright.

On the field Saturday we saw some very talented Rebels stand out. OHT wants to shout out to red-shirt freshman QB Matt Corral who showed how much he has developed since last season. Sophomore WRs Elijah Moore and Tylan Knight also had spectacular spring games and get a shout out. On that side of the ball OHT also wants to shout out to freshman RB Snoop Conner who led the Rebels in rushing Saturday.

On the defensive side of the ball OHT wants to give a shout out to junior ILB Mohamed Sanogo who led the Rebels in tackles in the spring game. Other defensive players who stood out in the spring game and deserve shout outs are senior OLB Qaadir Sheppard, junior DE Ryder Anderson, and sophomore DBs CJ Miller and Kam White. OHT also wants to shout out to the 2019 Chucky Mullins Courage Award recipient senior DE Austrian Robinson.

On The Diamond

With No.10 Ole Miss baseball and No.9 Ole Miss softball both having huge weekends OHT has some shout outs. In the series sweep over the Gators the Rebels racked up 40 runs on 49 hits thru the three games. Standing out at the plate were juniors Grae Kessinger and Cole Zabowski. Over the series Kessinger went 8 for 14 with 6 RBI. Zabowski (2HR) went 6 for 13 with 4 RBI. Standing out on the hill was freshman left-hander Doug Nikhazy (3-2). In his game-two start Nikhazy went 6.0 innings allowing 1 earned run on 7 hits with 6 Ks and 1 BB.

No.9 Ole Miss softball was on the road in Lexington to face the Wildcats. After a game-one loss the Rebels bounced back two win both games on Saturday to earn the series win. In the circle senior right-hander Brittany Finney and junior left-hander Molly Jacobsen had impressive series performances. At the plate sophomores Jessica Puk, Abbey Latham, Amanda Roth and Gabby Alvarez all had incredible series. Also deserving a shout out is head coach Mike Smith. Smith has done an outstanding job with this team.
