Ole Miss Basketball: Rebels dominate No.10 Missouri in Oxford

Coach Kermit Davis and Ole Miss basketball were back in action Wednesday night hunting their third consecutive win against No.10 Missouri.

Ole Miss basketball (11-8, 6-6) was back in action in a midweek SEC matchup as the Rebels played host to the No.10 Missouri Tigers (13-4, 6-4). Coach Kermit Davis and the Rebels were coming off a 86-84 overtime win at Auburn. The Tigers entered The Pavilion in Oxford coming off a 68-65 home win over Alabama.

Kermit Davis had been wondering where the Rebels offense was. Well, Wednesday night the Rebels found the offense they have been missing. Ole Miss took a 42-37 advantage into the break and turned it up in the second half. The Rebels had three players to score in double-digits in route to a dominating 80-59 win over a very good Tigers team. OHT looks at the huge win by the numbers.

As a team, the Rebels shot 56.9% making 29 of 51 of their shots from the field. In contrast, the Tigers shot 48.9% making 23 of 47 of their shots. From 3-point range, the Rebels shot 40.0% making 8 of 20 of their shots. Missouri shot 42.1% making 8 of 19 of their shots from beyond the arc. From the free-throw line, Ole Miss shot 82.4% making 14 of 17 of their shots. The Tigers shot just 33.3% or 5 of 15 of their shots from the charity stripe.

Ole Miss outrebounded the Tigers 34-19 with 9 offensive boards. The Rebels scored 12 second-chance points off the 9 offensive rebounds. The Tigers only had 5 second-chance points in the game. The Rebels outscored the Tigers 28-18 in the paint and created 9 points on 12 Tigers turnovers. The Tigers also created 9 points off of 12 Ole Miss turnovers. Each team produced 18 bench points.

Leading all Rebels in scoring was Jarkel Joiner with 21 points. Joiner also had 2 assists and 3 boards. Behind Joiner were both Devontae Shuler and Luis Rodriguez who each had 15 points. Shuler added 1 steal, 3 assists, and 2 rebounds. Rodriguez had 1 steal, 1 assist, and 6 rebounds. Next up was Romello White with 6 points, 1 steal, 2 assists, and 2 rebounds.

Robert Allen drew the start and had 5 points. Allen also added 1 steal, 4 assists, and 6 rebounds. Off the bench, KJ Buffen added 9 points with 3 steals, 2 blocked shots, 4 assists, and 6 rebounds. Matthew Murrell added 5 points off the bench with 3 assists and 3 rebounds. Sammy Hunter rounded out the Rebels scoring with 4 points, 1steal, 1 blocked shot, 1 assist, and 3 boards.

Coach Kermit Davis and Ole Miss basketball will look to extend their win streak to 4 games this Saturday. The Rebels travel to Columbia, South Carolina to face the Gamecocks (5-8, 3-6) who have lost two in a row. Tipoff is set for 5:00 pm CT and the game will be televised via the SEC Network.
