Ole Miss football had a bad upset scare in a 24-21 win against Washington State on Saturday night. It was not the best day for the Rebels, and it showed in the updated Week 8 AP Poll Top 25 rankings.
Even though they managed to take home the win, the previously No. 4 Ole Miss dropped to No.5. The Rebels struggled heavily to score against a 3-2 Pac-12 team in what was supposed to be one of the easier games on their schedule.
Honestly speaking, the only reason Ole Miss is still in the top 5 is because they managed to win, barely.
The Georgia Bulldogs, on the other hand, climbed up by a point to No. 9 in Week 8, following their 20-10 win over Auburn. It was the second game that Kirby Smart's squad won after the haunting loss to Alabama.
The irony is, despite climbing up a spot, Georgia still ranks lower than Ole Miss, and despite falling a spot, the Rebels are still higher than the Bulldogs.
Not for too long, though, as their upcoming Week 8 clash has the potential to wildly shake it up. Defeating an undefeated 6-0 Ole Miss will be a huge boost for Georgia's rankings.
As for the Rebels, winning this one against Georgia as the underdogs will likely earn them a Top 3 spot which will make program history for Kiffin.
