His nephew seems to be having a whole lot of fun with college football, so why shouldn't legendary Ole Miss quarterback Eli Manning get his foot back in the door?
As the Lane Kiffin saga made sure to include every ounce of drama possible and the Rebels finally named former defensive coordinator Pete Golding as his replacement, Manning made sure that he saw his piece of the fun along the way.
When a parody sports media account tweeted that Manning had been named as Kiffin's replacement, the (now retired) quarterback retweeted the post, saying, "'Coach Manning' has a nice ring to it."
Eli Manning would make a perfect Ole Miss GM
All jokes aside, Manning means a ton to the Ole Miss Rebels' football program and could, hopefully, one day, play a role with the team. While it likely won't be as head coach, he could step into an advisory role.

Many teams across the country have hired General Managers as the world of college football becomes increasingly difficult to navigate. Ole Miss's GM is currently Billy Glasscock, hired in 2024 after spending a few years on the Texas Longhorns' support staff.
While Glasscock supposedly plays a big role with the team, his name was completely absent from reports of Kiffin's decision, the program sending out Athletic Director Keith Carter and the Mississippi Chancellor to try to deal with the situation instead.
Why wouldn't the Rebels want to bring in someone who not only understands the sport as well as Manning does but also has a direct tie (his nephew Arch Manning, who is currently the Longhorns' QB1) to how the current CFB world works to run the show?
The odds are that Manning will keep doing his ESPN talk show with his brother, Peyton (yes, the other one who won two Super Bowls), but man, wouldn't it be fun to have him back in Oxford?
