Lane Kiffin is waiting for the very last moment to reveal his pick from Ole Miss and LSU.

Somewhere, Ole Miss fans have accepted the situation of Kiffin choosing LSU over Ole Miss. All the dragged-out silence without him possibly considering leaving doesn't make sense otherwise.

The main bone of contention now is something else: whether Ole Miss should allow Kiffin to coach in the College Football Playoff if he decides to leave.

Nick Saban and Kirk Herbstreit agrees on Lane Kiffin staying

Nick Saban, who Kiffin considers his primary counsel, and Kirk Herbstreit think they should.

"Let him finish this run," Herbstreit argued on ESPN's College Gameday, making a case for Kiffin to have a shot at the National Championship with Ole Miss. He has worked for it for six years after all.

“How about making a decision based on what’s best for the players? And that’s for the coach to finish the year,” Saban said.

Based on doing what's best for the players, the locker room is ready to take on their upcoming games with just as much commitment, with or without Kiffin, as QB Trinidad Chambliss made it known.

If Ole Miss lets Kiffin coach the Playoff, it'll be easier for the players to navigate through the toughest teams in college football.

If not, then all the rapport building with another coach and following new schemes at a critical time might disrupt the momentum they have built throughout the season.

Additionally, Ole Miss also avoids a messy, ugly exit with Kiffin if they decide to roll with Kiffin in CFP.

They don't need to, but they could end their era with Kiffin on a good note.

"So, it's a tough thing to answer right now," Saban added.

Kiffin is expected to announce his future shortly.
