Week One In The East

I have to first admit I was surprised by much of what I saw from the SEC East during week one of the 2017 college football season. I realize I was tough on the East with my picks, possibly a little too tough in fact. One thing is certain, it’s time for me to eat a little crow. Of course, I picked a couple of games which didn’t pan out too well. Let’s take a look and see.

9/2                    Missouri 38 Missouri State 7                     Missouri won 72-43

9/2                    South Carolina 28 NC State 35                   South Carolina won 35-28

9/2          (17)   Florida 24   (11) Michigan 35                     Florida lost 17-33

9/2                     Kentucky 24 Southern Miss 21                 Kentucky won 24-17

9/2          (15)   Georgia 42 Appalachian State 17             Georgia won 31-10

9/2                     Vanderbilt 31 Middle Tennessee 28        Vandy won 28-6

9/4          (25)   Tennessee 35 Georgia Tech 20                  Tennessee won 42-41 OT

More from Ole Miss Football

I knew Florida would have a tough time with the Wolverines and they did. However, I owe an apology to all my Gamecock friends for picking them to lose and I am eating a tasty dish of crow thanks to your huge win over NC State.

So what did we see from the SEC East in the openers? Once again we saw a couple of teams emerge on the offensive side of the ball. However, it was the defense from the SEC East which stuck out to me. Once again the SEC east will be a low-scoring division in college football. But hey I’m not always right either.

Other than the obvious fault with South Carolina winning I did have the score correct. If you look back over the scores I was really hitting pretty good for my picks in the SEC West. Then came the East. Overall, I believe I did pretty well.
