Being so busy with Ole Miss Baseball has caused me to fall behind on the Grove Grinder so now I have some catching up to do.

Ole Miss baseball fans have been busy enjoying this season even though the Rebels dropped their first game in the SEC Tourney to Auburn. The Rebels swept the Tigers in the regular season but there is a reason why they don’t have four-game series in college baseball. Of course, it’s very hard to beat a good baseball team four times and the Tigers are a good baseball team.

Now the Rebels still have a lot left to play for in the SEC Tourney when they face Georgia Thursday morning in the first elimination game in Hoover. Georgia was really waxed 7-0 by Texas A&M Wednesday. It should be a good match-up and I expect Georgia to play much better. Of course, I also expect the Rebels to play much better as well. After winning the SEC West it would be nice to make a deep run in the SEC Tourney.

Regardless of the outcome of Thursdays game the Rebels will certainly host a regional. Then we have to play ball and it will be on Swayze Field. Of course, if we when the regional it will be on to the super regional and we get to see just how far our post season can go. Personally, I believe we will do really well. Although it’s baseball season and there is a lot to be excited about there is other stuff going on in Oxford besides Ole Miss baseball.

Basketball Looking Up

More from Ole Hotty Toddy

Like most of Rebel Nation I’m excited about coach Kermit Davis and the direction he has the Ole Miss basketball program headed. With what Kermit Davis has already accomplished in his short time in Oxford is awesome. He has managed to keep the existing team together and filled his recruiting class with top talent. Of course, the way Ole Miss basketball performed last season we have to be optimistic going forward.

Then There Is Football

Of course, if you follow OHT closely you’ve noticed we are already excited about the 2018 Ole Miss football season. After seeing how we improved towards the end of 2017 and seeing where we are now with the NCAA investigation behind us we have to be excited.

Head coach Matt Luke is going into this season with one of the most potent offenses in the SEC. I believe he expects a much better record in 2018. After really studying the schedule and know the talent we have I feel we have a shot at a 9 win season. Of course, before you accuse me of being a homer let me assure you I’m being very optimistic about football this season. Although the Ole Miss program has had a setback I believe the Ole Miss football program will be back sooner rather than later. In fact we’ve already made predictions for the 2018 Ole Miss football season.

Too Optimistic?

OK, I know some of you are questioning my optimism over Ole Miss sports. However, if you really follow each sport you know we are in much better shape than just a year ago. Of course, it’s just my opinion but right now is a great time to be a Rebel. Hopefully, you agree with me. Hotty Toddy!
