After a loss to Auburn in their first game of the SEC Tourney Ole Miss baseball was back in action Thursday against Georgia in an elimination game.

After a not so surprising loss to Auburn we knew Ole Miss baseball (43-15) would bounce back big against the Georgia Bulldogs (37-19). Of course, Thursday mornings game was the first elimination game in the SEC Tourney. With their backs against the wall and fighting a 2 hour rain and lightening delay the Rebels struck hard in a long crazy tight game and eliminated Georgia from the tourney and Hoover.

The Rebels jumped on the board first with a solo homer in the bottom of the 1st. Ole Miss maintained the 1-0 lead thru 3.5 innings. Then the Rebels struck again in the bottom of the 4th with 1 more run to extend the lead to 2-0. Georgia answered in the top of the 7th with 1 run to cut into the Rebels lead. With the 2-1 lead Ole Miss struck again in the bottom of the 7th with 1 run to extend the lead to 3-1.

The Rebels entered the 8th with the 3-1 lead but the Dawgs tied the game with 2 runs on a crazy throwing error. With the game tied at 3-3 headed into the bottom of the 9th the Rebels the Rebels couldn’t rally and the game went to extra innings. The Dawgs scored 1 run on a solo homer to take the 4-3 lead. However, the Rebels would win on a walk-off by Tim Rowe to get the 5-4 win.
