Ole Miss Football: Despite LSU Loss Rebels Still Among SEC Leaders

Despite a 3-2 record and a loss to No.5 LSU this past weekend Ole Miss football still has Rebels who are among the SEC stat leaders.

Even though Ole Miss football fell 45-16 to No.5 LSU this past Saturday night there are still Rebels who are among the SEC statistical leaders. The Ole Miss offense could find few opportunities to put up big numbers yet there are still Rebels who added to their stats. Against LSU the Rebels put up just 328 yards of total offense with 178 yards coming thru the air and 150 yards coming on  the ground.

Rebels quarterback senior Jordan Ta’amu was 19 of 38 for 178 yards and 1 INT. Rebels junior wide receiver All-American AJ Brown had 9 receptions for 72 yards while junior DK Metcalf had 3 receptions for 37 yards. Senior DaMarkus Lodge had 3 receptions for 23 yards. JUCO transfer Scottie Phillips continues to grind out the ground game and had 16 carries for 96 yards and 1 TD.

Rebels QB Jordan Ta’amu is still the SEC passing leader with 1,573 yards completing 99 of 163 attempts for 10 TDs. Missouri QB Drew Lock is in 2nd with 1,283 yards while Tennessee QB Kyle Shurmur is in 3rd with 1,231 yards.

At receiving All-American AJ Brown sits at No.2 with 35 receptions for 453 yards and 3 TDs. Brown is behind Vandy WR Kalija Lipscomb who has 480 yards receiving. Junior WR DK Metcalf sits at No.5 in the SEC with 21 receptions for 405 yards and 4 TDs.

Ole Miss running-back Scottie Phillips currently sits at No.3 in the SEC in rushing. Phillips has 78 carries for 563 yards and 6 TDs. Phillips sits behind UK RB Benny Snell JR at No.1 with 639 yards and Trayveon Williams of TAMU at No.2 with 582 yards.
