Ole Miss football edged out South Carolina in a 30-14 showdown, but this time the credit went to the weaker Rebels unit: Pete Golding's defense.

The Rebels' offense has set the bar high with their performances each week, whereas their defense has struggled at times to even keep up with their opponents' offense.

This one against South Carolina saw a vice versa. While the offense struggled, the defense was consistent in stopping LaNorris Sellers, intercepting him twice.

In the offense, QB Trinidad Chambliss had a particularly bad day as he scored a career low 159 passing yards for a touchdown and completed just 12 of his 21 passes.

Trinidad Chambliss on offensive and defensive performances today

When asked about what went wrong, the Rebels QB owned up to having a bad day.

"Yeah, I just couldn't click tonight with some of my receivers and some of the quarterback runs that we had, just an off night for me. And I can't have that, you know, going forward, you know, down the stretch of the season. So, I just have to be better, you know, executing and just playing better ball," Chambliss said in his post-game conference, taking complete accountability for not being at his best.

"Yeah, not our prettiest performance on offense. We just really couldn't execute on some crucial downs, and that's a lot on me. I didn't have my best game, and I got to be better in getting all the guys, you know, going and making sure that we're executing."

Besides calling out the offense, Chambliss also duly lauded the defense's efforts.

"Yeah, I'm so proud of them. They stepped up today, and it was really them who carried the whole game. You know, offense, we really couldn't get stuff going. And they were, you know, getting stops and sacking the quarterback, putting pressure on him, and just making it foggy and, you know, the coverage and what our DBs did a great job with route coverage. And yeah, just credit to our defense today."

We'll see how this one bad day would affect Chambliss's already weak Heisman Trophy chances.
