Ole Miss football is now just two weeks away and Ole Hotty Toddy is fired up over the prospect the Rebels have of being a really good team this season.

Well now we are less than two weeks away from the season opener of Ole Miss football on September 1. Rebel Nation is way more than ready to see our Rebels in action when they travel to Houston to take on the Texas Tech Red Raiders in the Advocare Texas Kickoff. The news out of Oxford surrounding the 2018 Ole Miss Rebels team has been enough to spike excitement among Rebels faithful.

We have heard the offense is clicking on all cylinders and the defense is very competitive. We know there have been position battles from players who have stepped up and made a statement in the Rebels fall camp. The injuries have been kept at a minimum and the attitude and work ethic of the players has been very good. Apparently players have bought into coach Matt Luke’s ‘blue collar’ approach and are ready to begin the season.

A Lot To Be Excited About

More from Ole Miss Football

The Ole Miss players, coaches and fans are all excited to see what this team can produce on the field in 2018. There is a lot for Ole Miss football to be excited about in the 2018 season. There is little doubt the Rebel will have one of the top offenses in the nation and we are banking on the Rebels defense being much better in 2018. This will equal success for the Rebels this college football season.

For the Rebels both sides of the ball are loaded with very talented players. The Rebels have three players on the offensive side of the ball who have been selected to Preseason All-SEC Teams with two of those players, AJ Brown and Greg Little receiving First Team selections. Brown and Little were also selected as 2018 Preseason All-Americans. On defense there are new Rebels which we are anxious to see in action this season.

As you know by now Ole Hotty Toddy has believed in the Rebels potential success in 2018 to be good enough to finish the season 9-3. If that is truly the outcome we get we can be sure of record-breaking seasons for a couple of Rebels in 2018. I could easily see all three of the NWO’s top receivers flirt with the 1000 yard mark in 2018. I can also see another 1000 yard rusher with the Longo offense this fall. Of course, to be successful the Landshark Defense has to show up big-time in 2018. Sure Ole Miss football fans have questions about the defense and soon we’ll have the answers.

In Other News

Naturally, with the hype building OHT has been trying to get our readers fired up with as much football news as we can manage to keep updated. Between the Rebels fall practice and the 2018 NFL Preseason we have been busy. Besides football season looming ahead there has also been plenty of football related stuff for Ole Miss Rebels fans to discuss and debate just prior to the 2018 season.

So far this preseason we’ve been introduced to the Rebels new on-field mascot ‘Tony the Landshark’ and the new ‘Great White‘ uniforms which will be worn in the season opener in Houston against Texas Tech. Ole Miss fans really don’t accept change very well but so far the reception for Tony and the new unis has been better than expected which is somewhat surprising.

Still there are fans who are not happy with entire mascot issue and now even the most subtle changes, like uniforms, are met with skepticism from the Ole Miss faithful. The mascot issue will never die among the older Ole Miss fans which is to be expected. Many of us grew up as kids with the Colonel Rebel as our mascot and for many the Colonel will always be the mascot for the Rebels even in absentia.

Next. The GOATS of Ole Miss. dark

While Ole Miss fans may never agree on the mascot issue and the uniform options which the Rebels may have there are things which are met by Rebels fans on even ground. We all are ready for Ole Miss football to get the season started and we all want to see the Rebels have success in 2018. There may not be a universal solution to the mascot or unis but one thing is certain. Winning games in 2018 will go a long way to appeasing many of the unhappy fans. Hotty Toddy!
