Ole Miss football wasted no time getting the 208 season off to a great start with a 47-27 win over Texas Tech and the SEC wasted no time in noticing.

The 2018 edition of Ole Miss football kicked off its season this past Saturday with a huge 47-27 win over Texas Tech. The Rebels looked really good in the game and we watched as a number of players excel at their positions against the Red Raiders. Despite being considered underdogs in the season opening the Rebels came home from Houston, Texas with a very convincing win against a good Big12 opponent. The win drew the attention of the SEC.

Monday the SEC released their weekly honors and three Ole Miss Rebels were tabbed as SEC Player of the Week. JUCO transfer running back Scottie Phillips, junior All-American left tackle Greg Little and sophomore kicker Luke Logan were all recognized for the part they played in the win. Of course, all three play huge roles for the Rebels and will be depended upon to help the Rebels find success in 2018. We take a closer look at the three Rebels.

More from Ole Miss Football

JUCO transfer Scottie Phillips had an outstanding game out of the Rebels backfield and was named SEC Offensive Player of the week. Phillips had 16 carries for 204 yards rushing and 2 TDs and his TDs came on runs of 39 and 65 yards. Phillips clearly demonstrated what drew the Rebels attention while he was at Jones Junior College. In his Rebels debut he averaged 12.7 yards per carry.

Junior All-American left tackle Greg Little has been  expected to have a huge season and wasted no time getting started. Little was named SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week. Little and the offensive line combined to help the Rebels offense rack up 546 yards of total offense against a very experienced defense which is one of the top in the Big12. Little has been named to the Outland Trophy Watchlist.

Sophomore kicker Luke Logan received Co-SEC Player of the Week honors for his outstanding performance against the Red Raiders. Logan was a perfect 4 for 4 on the day with FGs of 23, 24, 29 and 39 yards. According to OleMissSports.com, Logan is ranked 2nd in the SEC and 15th in the nation in scoring. Logan will be an asset for the Rebels as they continue into the 2018 Ole Miss football season.
